Blastoise Base No Rarity Japanese 009

This is the first TCG Blastoise card released (test prints and other pre-release cards exist but were never released to the public) debuting in the Base set.  It is essentially a first edition card given that Japan never released marked first edition cards.  It is identified as such by having no rarity symbol in the bottom right corner.  Subsequent releases of the base set have rarity symbols.  Japan only released two editions of the base set, cards with no rarity symbol and cards with a rarity symbol.  Other languages that released the base set had many differences including edition, copyright, and errors.  To read more about the Base set visit Bulbapedia and Pokellector.
